Sujaca — A Taste of Southern Italy

The Sujaca bean is a local heirloom cultivated for generations on the Monte Poro plateau in Vibo Valentia.

What is Sujaca?

Sujaca is a Vibonese dialect word that refers to a traditional bean closely tied to the village of Carìa (a hamlet of Drapia). Each year, on August 6th, the community celebrates the “Sagra da Sujaca”.

Monte Poro stretches across Drapia, Zaccanopoli, Zungri, Spilinga and Rombiolo — a landscape of hills, small towns and generous soil.
